Do I need two satelite connections from the sky dish to get Sky+?
You need two connections if you want to use some of the advanced features of Sky+ such as recording independantly of the channel being watched, and some interactive options.
The Hudson, Fyfe and Kinnear buildings already have two satelite connections and should have no problems getting Sky+. Amazon, Blake and Emerson buildings with just a single satelite connection can still use Sky+. The ability to record programs, skip and forward live tv all still work with a single connection.
To get Sky+/Sky HD in Amazon, Blake, or Emerson building say that you have two sky points next to each other. When the engineers come to fit it, they will tell you you wont be able to use the special plus features, but that it will work as a player, or recorder, and as an HD box.
Sky HD has Sky+ built into its box, so the same is true. You can get HD, but will miss out on the plus features.
How do I get TV in my bedroom?
When you plug a TV in in the bedroom, you wll probably get no a signal. This is because the Tv connection in the bedroom(s) is a loop-back from the living room (it doesn't come straight from the antenna).
In the living room you should have two TV RF points. The one next to the FM and Sky points is the main antenna output to the flat. The other TV point then connects to the bedroom points, supposedly so you can send a signal out from your sky+ box or similar back into the bedroom (although hardly any units like these have RF-out anymore)
You can test this by unplugging the Tv you have in the living room currently, and plugging the lead back into that spare wall output. Then try re-tuning your bedroom set - you should get all the channels ok.
To solve the problem you need a T-piece, so you can plug the main antenna output both into your living room set and into the other socket for the bedroom. If you have a booster with two output this would work too, and will probably be better.
The reason there is a bit of a snowy signal is because the RF socket which is joined to the living room is very close to the master one, and some of the signal leaks over.
I've just tested this to make sure I'm not compltely wrong, and all the channels in the bedroom are fine now!
You might run into problems with cable genders, etc. It can be very annoying.
