Management Company History

The current managing agents are Rendall and Rittner who were appointed to New River Village in July 2006. For those of you who have moved in after this date it is probably worth giving some background to their appointment and the work of the residents committee.

NRV opened its doors in July 2004 when the first people stated to move into Amazon and this was followed by Blake in November 2004. The original managing agents were Hamptons who were taken over by County Estates Management (CEM) in the summer of 2004. It became apparent quite quickly that the estate was not being looked after as it should have been and a small group of residents got together to try and ensure our service charge was being spent as it should be. Upon investigation it became apparent that we were paying (in our opinion at least) over the odds for our utilities and the service we were receiving was not up to standard (blocks were cleaned infrequently, landscaping was not looked after etc).

After taking legal advice we decided to take the management company to a leasehold valuation tribunal to get an independent appraisal of whether CEM were providing an adequate service. At the 11th hour St James decided to remove CEM and replace them with Rendall & Rittner in July 06.

Since R&R have been in charge there has been a significant improvement in the management of NRV; services are actually being delivered (and on time), the residents committee has regular meetings with them to discuss key issues, there is an onsite estate manager to deal with issues as and when they arise and to ensure the smooth running and amongst those of us who experienced CEM, there is a real sense that they are always trying to get us the best value for money.

As with any large development of its size, NRV poses a challenge to any management company and the forum provides an ideal area to raise debate about areas of R&R's service which you might not be satisfied with.
