Planning

  • The developer chosen for this development is Inner Circle. The land is owned by Sainsbury's and Haringey Council.
  • Access will be from the High Street and not through NRV.
  • Works on the site will begin early 2009 if everything goes smoothly.
  • The supermarket should be ready in early 2010. They are keen to get that sorted first.
  • The whole construction period will be 3 1/2 years until everything is finished.
  • This is part of the Haringey Heartland regeneration project.

Sainsbury's

  • The development is intended to include a Sainsbury's taking up approximately 2,700 square metre (29,500 sqft square feet) in total with a 1500 square metres (17,000 suare feet) sales area. This has gone down from 3700 square metres (40,000 square feet) total space originally intended for the store.
  • The former Hornsey baths will be demolished to make way for the Sainsbury's store.
  • The supermarket parking will be under the store with private flats above.
  • There will be an underground car park with 107 spaces under the store.
  • Will include an ATM machine.
  • Will provide 200 new jobs

Housing

  • It will have between 300 and 400 dwellings, 50% social housing with Metropolitan and Circle 33.
  • The highest buildings will be 6 storeys (shorter than NRV and downhill from it) and at the High Street end of the development.
